Valedictory Session of the India Pavilion held at Marrakesh

The sessions at India pavilion ended with a valedictory where Hon'ble Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MOEFCC) Shri. Anil Madhav Dave was present along with Secretary, MOEFCC, Shri. Ajay Narayan Jha, Joint Secretary, Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad MoEFCC, Joint Secretary UNES Shri. Manish Chauhan and Ms Shobana Kamineni, President Designate-Confederation of Indian Industry Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Limited.


Shri. Anil Madhav Dave Minister appreciated the activities of the Pavilion in showcasing India’s initiatives on combating climate change setting a high benchmark for the future. He expressed his happiness over the participation and involvement of the youth members of the delegation and visitors and said that the young have the responsibility to take forward the fight against Climate Change and shape it into a mass movement.


Shri. Ajay Narayan Jha, Secretary MoEFCC, appreciated the wholehearted participation of all the stakeholders. He credited the success of India @ COP 22 to the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which was ably carried forward at Marrakesh by Shri Anil Madhav Dave.


Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad Joint Secretary MoEFCC, thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the grand success of the Pavilion and informed the audience that the India pavilion was one of the most well received Pavilions of COP-22. Shri. Manish Chauhan, Joint Secretary UNES appreciated the collaborated work of all ministries, states and other organization for successful implementation of the India Pavilion.


Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director, MoEFCC summarized the sessions and mentioned that were completed across the 12-day Meet and the valedictory session came to curtains with vote of thanks given by Dr. S Satapathy, MoEFCC.


The India Pavilion saw a total of 22 sessions, 200 speakers/panellists, 100+ presentations and 1100+ participants. It also witnessed the screening of 110 Films, and the release of Books on Sustainable Lifestyle at the hands of Hon'ble Minister MoEFCC. The Pavilion was appreciated and viewed by nearly 4000 visitors from different countries. Information was also shared in the form of innovative digital material as the Indian Pavilion became the centre of attraction due to its high technology-driven content that demonstrated India's commitment to fight climate change and its strong belief that the world needs to look at Sustainable Lifestyles to attain a Positive Climate Action.
